Drawing inspirations from Mitski, Taylor Swift, and Cody Fry, Jewel mdt (she/her), composes melancholic pop songs to describe her frustrating emotions. In the summer of 2021, she was an Emerging Artist under the Canadian Musicians Co-operative performing online and showcasing her original song “Slow Burn” live at the showcase in Barrie, ON. She specializes playing the piano and vocals, and attempts to learn playing the acoustic guitar! She attends open mic events in Toronto performing catchy covers and original tunes.
Recently, she graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts from the Honours Arts (Music) and Business program. During her undergrad, she has taken the role as VP Finance for the UW Music Society, coordinating and organizing music-related events that student community can engage in. She hopes to pursue a career in the music business industry while continuing her passion in music composition.

Jewel mdt released her single "Words" in 2021 describing her past experiences of being unable to confront her bottled-up feelings, thus having a restless mind. She hopes she connects with others with experiences of being "too kind" to be confrontational even if these restless thoughts want to be spoken.
